a loss in soccer, according to Renard
Olivier Renard had a special relationship with Sandro Grande, since he led his son in soccer. The sporting director and vice-president of CF Montreal was unaware of the former player’s controversial past, but was well aware of his sporting qualities.

At a press conference at the Olympic Stadium on Wednesday, the Belgian stuck to President Gabriel Gervais’ version of the facts, admitting all the same that the rapid dismissal of the 45-year-old man had “woken up a lot of things”.
“The president said everything yesterday [mardi]. He spoke up and explained what the club did and maybe what he should have done differently. He explained everything and I’ll stick to that. We’re going to move on to the next chapter now,” Renard said straight away.
“Now it’s up to us to look forward and do like last year by bringing the most positive feelings around the club and positive results,” he added.
Sportingly, the former Canadian international had nothing to be ashamed of, according to Renard. After a professional career of more than 10 years, Grande returned to settle in Quebec to share his knowledge of the sport with his community.
He had the trick with young people and was appreciated by parents, according to Renard.
“I got to know Sandro Grande over the three years I’ve been in Quebec. He was the sports director where my son played football. In terms of football education, for my son and young Quebec children for years, I have only positive things to say about him.
“He was a good person with me, that’s for sure and certain,” he concluded, emphasizing the “me”.
Recall that Grande was thanked by CF Montreal on Tuesday, a day after his hiring as coach of the reserve team. In 2012, he made controversial remarks towards Pauline Marois and sovereignists on social networks, in the wake of the Metropolis attack.
