Barbara Ehrenreich was an American writer and political activist. During the 1980s and early 1990s, she was a central figure in the Democratic Socialists of America. She was an award-winning columnist and essayist and has been writing more than 20 books.
Ehrenreich is best known for her 2001 book Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America; a memoir of Ehrenreich’s three-month experiment surviving on a series of minimum-wage jobs. She even won the Lannan Literary Award.
