Viva Editions/Simon & Schuster will publish Anne Heche’s new memoir Call Me Anne in January 2023.

However, in the new book, Heche has included intimate details about her controversial relationship with Ellen DeGeneres in the 1900s.

According to an excerpt obtained by the Associated Press, ‘I have been labeled ‘disgraceful’ because I love a woman. I had never been with a woman before I dated Ellen.’

In addition, she wrote, ‘I personally did not identify as a lesbian. I just love it! It was, to be clear, as strange to me as anyone else. There were no words to describe how I felt.’

Heche also said, ‘Gay didn’t feel right, nor right. The alien might be the best, I sometimes thought.’

In addition, the passage read, ‘What, why, and how I love a person instead of their gender. I would have loved to answer if someone had asked, but as I said before, no one ever did. I am happy that I could tell you in this book – once and for all.’

If you didn’t know, Heche and DeGeneres were among the first openly gay couples in Hollywood. They began their romance after meeting at a Vanity Fair Oscar party.
