Chelsea star ‘on the mend’ and nearing return in February after suffering recurrence of knee ligament damage which ruled him out of World Cup
Reece James has been out of action since suffering a recurrence of his knee injury which forced him to miss the World Cup, but is nearing his comeback.
The Chelsea star has been left out of England’s squad for the tournament in Qatar due to a ligament injury he picked up in October.
He made his long-awaited return when the season restarted in December, but it didn’t go to plan as he was forced off after 53 minutes after feeling further discomfort.
However, he will be hoping to make his second comeback of the season soon after missing many key games for Graham Potter’s men.
How long has Reece James been out?
Reece James is expected to be out until February.
After re-injuring his knee in his first game against Bournemouth, he was forced to spend even more time on the sidelines.
Chelsea released a statement after the match saying: “The results of the analysis have unfortunately confirmed a setback for the 23-year-old, with Reece now set to be ruled out for up to a month.”

This makes a second return from injury likely to occur early next month and there are positive signs he will be back in time.
Last week, Blues boss Potter gave an update on his right-back and said: “Reece was on the grass today, not training with the team but on his own.”
James himself also posted a positive message on social media earlier this month. Tweeting an image of him and N’Golo Kante with the caption “On the mend!”.
The positive updates are an encouraging sign and point to an imminent return for the Chelsea star.
Although he will make sure he is definitely fully fit before returning to the pitch to avoid another setback in what has been a long recovery.
