Chiefs DT Chris Jones plans to shut down media in divisional round
Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones has 65 sacks in seven seasons, but none in the playoffs. The All-Pro plans to change this Saturday at home in a Divisional Round playoff game against Jacksonville.
“It’s not a high priority, but I’m going to have one just to shut you up,” he said Thursday, referring to the media.
Despite having no playoff sacks, Jones still played for the Chiefs in the playoffs. In a Super Bowl LIV win over the 49ers, he defended three passes.
Jones has a good chance of keeping his sack vow.
In a 27-17 win over the Jags earlier this season, the Chiefs fired Trevor Lawrence five times and Jones won 1.5.
Jones, a first-team All-Pro, has at least a half sack in 10 of the last 12 games. Saturday’s game will be his 13th in the playoffs.
Getting a playoff sack is nothing new for teammate Frank Clark, who has 11 playoff sacks, tied for fifth all-time. Clark, who recently battled a groin injury, was a full participant in Thursday’s practice. According to ESPN’s Adam Teicher, the defensive end will play on Saturday.
Maybe Clark can pass the playoff sack secrets to his teammate.
