The 95th Oscars ceremony opened on Sunday March 12 with a flight over Hollywood, a nod to Tom Cruise’s “Top Gun”. But it’s another film that has won a wave of statuettes.

Nominated in 11 categories, “Everything Everywhere All At Once”, a crazy comedy where a black hole in the shape of a bagel intersects with sex toys used as nunchakus, is the big favorite of the evening. He has already obtained several statuettes. Ke Huy Quan, revealed at the age of 12 in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”, won the Oscar for best supporting actor for his incarnation of a somewhat clumsy husband with unsuspected potential. American actress Jamie Lee Curtis won Best Supporting Actress for her role as a bitter tax auditor.

The film was also praised for its original screenplay.

An Oscar for the pacifist film “In the West, nothing new”

Produced by Netflix, the German adaptation of “In the West, nothing new”, novelist Erich Maria Remarque’s pacifist masterpiece on the horrors of the First World War, was crowned best international film. The feature film outperformed its competitors “Argentina 1985”, “Close”, “EO” and “The Quiet Girl”.

The film also received Oscars for Best Original Score, Set Design and Cinematography.

For its part, “Navalny”, which relates the poisoning of the leader of the opposition and Russian anti-corruption activist Alexeï Navalny, was awarded the prize for best documentary.

“Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro”, a dark version of the famous children’s book set in 1930s Italy, won the Oscar for best animated film.

The comedian and presenter Jimmy Kimmel did not hesitate to joke about the famous slap of Will Smith last year, still in everyone’s mind and that the production would like to forget. “If anything unpredictable or violent happens during the ceremony, do what you did last year: nothing,” he said.
