In the canteen of the Moscow school, the menu was updated according to the wishes of the children

Nuggets, meatballs and muffins appeared in Moscow school canteens

Nuggets, meatballs, muffins, croissants and other treats appeared in Moscow school canteens. There are 15 new ingredients in total. The menu is made according to the wishes of the children.

It was jointly developed by the Association of Social Catering Enterprises in the Education and Health Sectors and the City’s Expert Advisory Council of the Parent Community with the participation of child nutritionists. The menu takes into account the recommendations of experts from specialized research institutes for baby food.

Instead of a ready-made salad with ingredients of your choice, students can make their own. The child himself “builds” a salad, for example, tomatoes, cucumbers and cabbage.

Students can optionally add sauce to the side dish: previously, it was automatically added to the dish, even if the child did not ask, and was offered regardless of the child’s preferences.

Now, for breakfast, students can, for example, add milk to buckwheat porridge or choose a portion of porridge without milk. Also, kids can add sweet toppings to their favorite snacks.

There was an opportunity to choose a drink: tea or cocoa. At the same time, tea is not prepared for everyone as it used to be. Now kids can optionally add lemon or sugar to it from an individual package.

For lunch, you can choose the first of the two courses offered – soup or broth. Previously, only one version of the soup was offered. For the first course, children can take as much bread as they need.

Schoolchildren are now offered 11 options for the first hot dishes: Far Eastern soup with red fish, Kuban soup, Novgorod cabbage soup, Moscow borscht, hodgepodge, vegetable puree soup, minestrone; Nine types of main meat dishes and five types of side dishes that are in high demand among children: Mexican beef, Tatar aju. At the same time, all foods are prepared according to special recipes as part of the recommendations of baby nutrition experts.

Remember that many children eat for free in Moscow schools. Students in grades 1-4 are served a hot breakfast; Students from large and socially vulnerable families are served breakfast and lunch, orphans, disabled children; Students in classes 1-11 from joint families will be provided with two hot meals a day (breakfast, lunch). Rospotrebnadzor complies with sanitary standards. Quality control is also monitored by the Nutrition Commission of each school’s governing council. It can include teachers, students and parents. The Commission regulates the supply and cooking of food products for children. To participate in the work of the Commission, you need to contact the Governing Council.

For additional meals, buffets operate in schools. The product range includes soft and hot drinks, vegetable and fruit salads, sandwiches and pastries. The range includes hypoallergenic and sugar-free and gluten-free products: fruit and vegetable purees, fruit drinks, cereals, bio-yogurts. Such products are placed on special racks with the colloquial name “Zdravushka”.

Thanks to the Moskvenok service, parents can control the child’s meals in canteen and buffet expenses, as well as set daily spending limits and a stop list for foods that the child does not want in the buffet. MES Diary mobile application has access to school nutrition information.

“We noticed a significant change in the school menu. The child is happy to talk about the possibility of seasoning any dish with delicious cutlets, nuggets, casseroles, as well as sauces or syrups to taste. The menu always has fresh fruits: oranges, pears, apples. You can choose between cocoa or tea. The main thing is that the child began to come home from school in full,” said Yulia Shirshova, mother of a fourth-grader at school number 1290.
