After their recent Test series victory over Bangladesh, India continued their momentum with a 2-point victory in the first T20I against Sri Lanka. Deepak Hooda played a crucial 41 point unbeaten run for the Indian team while Shivam Mavi shone with the ball taking four scalps.
India started the three-game T20I series against Sri Lanka on a high note by winning the first match held at Wankhede Stadium by a two-point margin. The hosts were asked to strike first, but suffered a batting slump and were reduced to 46/3 at one point. However, the lower order hitters staged a late recovery to bring India to a decent 162/5 total. Deepak Hooda wreaked havoc at fullback with an undefeated 41-point shot from just 23 balls.
Responding to the chase of 163, Sri Lanka lost wickets at regular intervals as Indian bowlers made life difficult for them with impressive bowling. Shivam My life picked four wickets while conceding just 22 runs on his debut. As well, Harshal Patel and Umran Malik participated with a few wickets each. Dasun Shanaka played alone for the visitors with a 45-point shot from 27 balls.
