Karthi goal stuns Aussies as India win 5-4 in FIH Pro Hockey League


Since the establishment of the FIH Pro Hockey League, India have done well in the tournament finishing in third place last time around as well. Also in the current 2022-23 edition, the team has been outstanding and is in second place with four wins in six matches, one draw and one defeat.
After beating world champions Germany a few days ago, the Indian team also showed their solidity against the Australians and beat them 5-4 in Odisha. He was the captain Harman Preet Singh‘s as he scored a hat-trick to lead India to victory, while youngsters Jugraj Singh and Selvam Karthi scored the other two goals.
After Australia opened the scoring in the first half, India equalized early on and never looked back from there. In fact, at the end of the second half, the team had a 4-1 lead against the Aussies with 53% possession. Even though the visitors tried to make a comeback in the third and fourth quarters, they eventually missed the line.
Although there were a few bright moments throughout the match, the young Indians were particularly impressive. Striker Karthi’s goal was a unique goal. In the 26th minute of the match, Vishnukant Singh received an aerial pass from Harmanpreet Singh on the right flank.
After gaining control of the ball, he was quick to pass it down the left to Karthi, who was unmarked. The latter quickly latched on to the ball, walked into the D and just fired the goal into the top right corner, leaving the Aussie keeper baffled.
