Meghalaya, who had never reached the Santosh Trophy semi-final, extended their legendary run in the National Football Championship (NFC) on Wednesday March 1 when they stunned Punjab 2-1 after coming back from one goal . Punjab took the lead on goal from Deepak Kumar (16′), but Meghalaya responded with goals from Figo Syndal (37′) and Sheen Stevenson Sohktung (90+1′) to advance to their first final.
In Group B, which also included West Bengal, the league’s most successful team, former champions Railways, Manipur and Delhi, Meghalaya had previously finished second to Services. In the final round of the group round, Meghalaya beat West Bengal, Manipur and Delhi while drawing with Railways and losing to Services.

In the second semi-final, Robin Yadav (42′), Ankit P (45+1′) and Sunil Kumar (77′) scored goals for Karnataka to overcome a 1-0 deficit and defeat favorites Services 3 -1. For serves, Bikash Jadhav scored the only goal in the 40th minute.
In contrast, Karnataka came second to Punjab in Group A, which also included former season champions Kerala, Maharashtra, Goa and league game hosts Odisha. Karnataka won against Kerala and Goa, drew with Odisha, Maharashtra and Punjab, and remained undefeated in the final round group stage.
