Meghan Markle opens up about the incident
Meghan Markle recently debuted the first episode of her highly anticipated Spotify podcast called ‘Archetypes.’
The 41-year-old actress teamed up with professional athlete Serena Williams for the debut.
During the conversation, Markle talked about how Archie’s nanny saved him from a fire.
Markle mentioned that Archie’s bedroom caught fire while she and Prince Harry were away attending an official royal engagement.
She claimed, ‘There was this moment where I’m standing on a tree trunk and I’m giving this speech to women and girls. We finish the engagement, we get in the car and they say, “There was a fire in the residence. There was a fire in the baby’s room.”‘
The Duchess of Sussex went on to mention that her son’s carer Lauren saved Archie by taking him downstairs for a midnight snack before the fire.
Markle said, ‘Lauren was in floods of tears. She was putting Archie to bed and she just said, “You know what? Let me go get a snack downstairs.”‘
She also said, ‘There was no smoke detector. Someone just happened to smell smoke in the hallway, entered, fire extinguisher. He was sleeping there.’

Meghan Markle’s podcast which was first announced back in 2020 released its debut episode with Serena Williams on Tuesday 23 August.
Additionally, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s official website has been revamped to promote Markle’s new venture.
The site includes a black and white picture of Markle with a message that reads, ‘The podcast where we explore and destroy the labels that try to hold women back.’
During the first episode, Markle and the tennis icon talked about various topics including motherhood.
They further discussed the implications of a woman’s ambition compared to men. Therefore, the episode is entitled, ‘The Misconception of Ambition.’
Meanwhile, UC Berkley professor Laura Kay received mixed reviews for the show.
A Twitter user said, ‘Brilliant podcast! Loving every minute.’
While another commented saying, ‘So in other words, privileged and elite has a conversation with privileged and elite. Together they complain about what it’s like to be privileged and elite.’
