Officer shot during arrest at White Bear Lake
A White Bear Lake police officer is in stable condition in a hospital following surgery after being shot Tuesday night.
The officer was attempting to make an arrest at the Lakewood Hills apartment complex in the 3100 block of Karth Road around 10 p.m. when shots were fired, White Bear Lake Police Captain Phil Henry said. .
The officer was hit by the gunfire and taken to hospital, Henry said.
Other officers were able to arrest the suspect. Police did not say why the suspect was wanted.
Authorities had asked the public to stay away from the area as events unfolded, but said there was no longer a threat.
Several law enforcement agencies assisted the White Bear Lake police, including the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA).
No other information was immediately released. A BCA spokeswoman only confirmed that the agency was responding to an incident of use of force and the shooting of an officer in the northeast metro suburb.
Additional information is expected to be released on Wednesday, police said.
