People Are Just Realizing That Opening A Giant SUV Outside California High School Is Much Worse Than A Pothole

A MASSIVE sinkhole shut down a Southern California high school after swallowing a teacher’s SUV whole.

The automobile that the natural disaster inhaled was a 2022 Toyota RAV4 that the school instructor had just purchased in November.

Tasha Wisniewski, an English teacher at Santa Paula High School who had her car swallowed, said she was having lunch when co-workers informed her of the SUV’s crash.

Wisniewski said, “I couldn’t believe it. It’s so weird and surreal because it’s not really something you think you’d get in this business,” VC Star reports.

The English teacher added that she would never park around the sinkhole area again after what happened, despite many of her colleagues regularly using the space.

This sinkhole occurred early Wednesday morning around 12:10 a.m. on the west side of 6th Street in Santa Paula, north of Pleasant Street in Ventura County, Calif., KTLA reports.

Responders on site measured the opening as 10 feet by 20 feet.

All classes at nearby Santa Paul High School were closed Thursday due to the natural disaster before reopening Friday.

Santa Paula Public Works Director Clete Saunier said heavy rains caused stormwater runoff, which ruptured a drainage pipe and eroded the ground beneath the payout, VC Star reports.

Saunier claimed not to know the age of the broken pipe, but said a new one had been installed as a replacement.

The public works official added that a camera was running inside the other pipes around the school to avoid any related issues.

No one was injured in the sinkhole and the Toyota RAV4 was removed shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday.
