The interview is set to air in full on Monday, and Harry is expected to respond to claims his brother “knocking him to the ground” during an argument over Meghan Markle.

In a brief glimpse of today’s conversation, Strahan is heard saying to Harry: “There’s a quote in the book where you refer to your brother as your ‘beloved brother and sworn enemy’.

“Strong words. What did you mean by that?

Harry then replies, “There’s always been this competition between us weirdly. I think it’s always been played by heir and successor.”

It comes after a sensational leak of extracts from Harry’s forthcoming book, Spare, in which the Duke accuses his brother of physically assaulting him.

Harry claims his brother “kicked him to the ground” during an argument over Meghan Markle in which he called Meghan “rude” and “difficult”.

Harry alleges that William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my collar, and… knocked me to the ground” in an excerpt from the book reported by the Guardian.

The Duke of Sussex, 38, claims he was left with a visible back injury following the row in 2019 at Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace, where he was living at the time.

Harry says William was already “really hot” when he arrived, wanting to talk about their deteriorating relationship.

According to Harry, it turned into a shouting match when William complained about his wife Meghan, calling her “rude” and “abrasive”.

William insisted he was trying to help.

The Duke of Sussex replied: “Are you serious? Help me? Sorry, is that what you call it? Help me?”

Harry claims he then poured William a glass of water and said, “Willy, I can’t talk to you when you’re like this.”

He then says his brother called him “another name” and then “came to me”.

Harry claims: “It all happened so fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my collar, and he knocked me to the ground.

“I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a while, dazed, then I got up and told him to get out.”

He says William told him to hit him back but he refused, and so his brother left “looking full of regret and apology”.

William then told his brother not to tell Meghan about the confrontation, according to Harry.

Harry says he replied, “You mean you attacked me?”, to which he claims William replied, “I didn’t attack you, Harold.”

Harry said he didn’t immediately tell his wife until she noticed “scratches and bruises” on his back.

The excerpt from Harry’s book was published by the Guardian. It is unclear how they obtained an early copy.

The explosive book – called Spare and due for release on January 10 – is set to go further than its £80million Netflix docuseries and give a detailed blow-by-blow account of their downfall.
