Prince Harry says William attacked him during argument
He said Harry recounts a 2019 argument at his Kensington Palace home, in which he says William called Harry’s wife, former actress Meghan Markle, ‘tough’, ‘rude’ and ‘abrasive’ . Harry claims William grabbed his brother by the collar and ripped his collar off before knocking him down, the newspaper said.
“I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me,” the book says. “I lay there for a while, dazed, then I got up and told him to get out.”
William later apologized, the excerpt says.
Neither Buckingham Palace, which represents King Charles III, nor William’s Kensington Palace office has commented on the claims.
The book, due for release on Tuesday, is the latest in a series of public revelations and accusations from Harry and Meghan that have rocked the British royal family,
Harry, 38, and the American actress tied the knot at Windsor Castle in May 2019. Less than a year later, the couple quit their royal duties and moved to California, citing what they consider the racist treatment of Meghan by the media and a lack of support from the palace.
They have since presented their side of the story in an interview with Oprah Winfrey and a six-part Netflix documentary released last month, which chronicled the couple’s murderous relationship with the British media and estrangement from the royal family.
In the series, Harry claimed that William yelled at him during a family gathering and accused palace officials of lying to protect his older brother, who is now heir to the throne. Meghan has spoken of wanting to end her life as she struggles to cope with toxic media coverage.
In excerpts from interviews recorded to promote his book and due to air on Sunday, Harry said the royal household called him and Meghan “bad guys” and “shown no willingness to reconcile”.
Palace officials declined to comment on any of the allegations.
