SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Bishop William Byrne will head to Washington D.C. this week to serve as this year’s keynote speaker at the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast.
Bishop Byrne will speak at the 19th annual breakfast on Thursday, reflecting on the Catholic Church’s teachings on the Eucharist.
Bishop Byrne tells 22News that in the diocese of Springfield, parishes have been embracing a year of the Eucharist, “So my talk is about revitalizing our own experience and our own joy of just coming together at mass and celebrating the Eucharist together.”
The National Catholic Prayer Breakfast was created back in 2004 with a goal of offering prayers for the whole country. The event is described as non-partisan and people of all faith backgrounds are welcome to join.
