‘Stranger Things’ actress Grace Van Dien said she was taking a break after being sexually harassed by a producer.
The star did not identify the attacker as she spoke about the incident during a Twitch stream on Tuesday, but said it happened on ‘one of the last movies I did’ . She said she had “turned down four movies” in recent weeks and was staying home to play video games.
“Some people are mad at me for turning down acting projects and deciding to stream more, but the thing is, the last few projects I’ve worked on, I haven’t had the best experiences with some of the people. that I had to work for,” Van Dien said, per IndieWire.
Van Dien, who played Chrissy Cunningham on the hit Netflix series, said she hasn’t felt safe since the harassment. The play sessions, she said, allow her to “choose who I hang out with, who I talk to.”
“When people ask, ‘How is streaming better for your mental health?’ That’s how it is,” Van Dien said, according to the outlet. “I can stay home and play video games and I don’t have my boss asking me to sleep with him. That’s better for my mental health.

Van Dien alleged that the anonymous producer “hired a girl he was sleeping with” and “asked her to do a threesome with them.”
“Like, he’s my boss,” she said on Twitch, according to IndieWire. “I didn’t and I cried and was so upset.”
Van Dien said another cast member witnessed the proposal and asked to take a walk. She added that she “had a miserable time” during the film’s production and “cried a lot on that shoot.”
“That’s why I’m going to stick to streaming for a bit, and hopefully it’s not a huge key in your plans for me, but I’m happy here,” she said, adding that she was making plans for her own projects. .
“I hope someone decides to fund them, because then I can control my own set and I won’t be asking my actors to sleep with me,” she said. “So that’s cool, isn’t it?”
