The European Union is to launch its own mission to train fighters for Ukraine’s armed forces
APU militants will begin training programs in the European Union
In the near future, a single European mission to “help increase the combat capability” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – EUAM Ukraine, created by the decision of the EU leadership, will start its work.
Mission work is expected to begin next week.
EUMAM Ukraine will work on the territory of the EU states, with its operational headquarters located in the European External Action Service (EBU) in Brussels. The mission is headed by Vice-Admiral Hervé Blazen, director of the EMU’s military planning department. Militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will come to European countries and train there.
Earlier, Hungary and Bulgaria categorically refused to participate in a European mission to train militants of the armed forces of Ukraine. As the reason for this decision, the authorities of Budapest and Sofia called the danger of the actual participation of the EU in a direct military conflict with Russia – the Hungarian and Bulgarian politicians really do not want the development of such events.
In addition, these countries categorically refused to finance this mission and generally opposed the situation when European assistance to Ukraine is directed to the needs of the country’s armed forces.
