Tim Scott avoids talking about Trump as he ducks and dodges questions

Senator Tim Scott (SC) found several ways to get away from talking about Donald Trump during an interview with NBC News’ Ali Vitali last week. (You can watch an excerpt from the interview below)

The Republican launched a committee on Wednesday to explore a 2024 presidential campaign.

“I think one of the open questions here is that you look at the polls, you look at the fact that in this Republican arena, President Trump is kind of the man to beat. Why shouldn’t he be the party’s candidate again? Vitali asked.

“One of the things I hear a lot about the Faith in America tour is that they’re preoccupied with the most important issues in their lives, that’s what drives their decisions,” Scott replied, who commented on his written contributions to the 2017 edition of Trump. revision of the tax code.

“But it was a Trump bill,” Vitali replied. “I mean, how are you different from him because naturally, introducing yourself, you say, ‘I think I could be a better president than him. “”

“Actually, I think it’s very simple,” Scott added before going back to the tax bill.

Vitali then asked Scott about Trump’s praise for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“All we know is you look at the new axis of evil, it starts with China and President Xi includes President Putin, and you certainly see Iran’s role as well,” Scott replied, who said America needed leadership to push back against an “adversary” like China.

“But Trump isn’t pushing that away,” Vitali noted.

“Well, we talk about what I want to do, and you talk about what other people want to do. So I want to keep talking about what I can control and not what other people control,” Scott said.

This isn’t the first time Scott has avoided tackling the issues head-on.

The Republican found ways to avoid blunt answers about a nationwide abortion ban and a 15-week abortion ban in interviews over the past week.
