Tornadoes hit Texas and Louisiana as storms hit the south

A wide range of extreme weather is spreading across the United States as storms threaten heavy snowfall in the Southwest and a severe weather system brings the triple threat of tornadoes, damaging winds and rain in the south.

About 35 million people in parts of the Southern and Southern Plains are threatened Thursday by severe thunderstorms – the worst of which could bring multiple rounds of fierce winds, large hail and tornadoes, the Storm Prediction Center said.
