Critics mocked former President Donald Trump after he asked at a 2024 campaign rally in Davenport, Iowa on Sunday if anyone in the audience didn’t love his children.
While bragging about having “virtually eliminated” the “unfair estate tax” to protect family farms during his presidency, Trump said people actually had nothing to leave in their wills for their children.
“If you don’t love your kids too much or you don’t love them at all, which happens on occasion, don’t leave them anything,” he said.
“Does anyone here not love their children?” Trump asked.
“Ah, be careful. Oh, we have to be careful about that,” he replied to someone in the crowd. “The problem is that the fake media is going to report this as fact, you know that? You are going to have a lot of explaining to do.
Twitter users had their own responses to Trump’s question, which were remarkably similar to comments he also made in Iowa last year.
