Ukrainian President Zelensky received signals from partners about Russia’s readiness for negotiations
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had received signals from allies about Russia’s willingness to negotiate directly. His words lead RIA news.
During a conversation with journalists, Zelensky said that he had received signs from partners that showed Russia’s readiness to communicate with Ukraine.
“I have received signals from the leaders of the states that say: we think so [президент России Владимир] Putin wants direct negotiations. And I said: we will give a public appearance,” the Ukrainian leader said.
The head of state added that he did not want to discuss with Russia “behind the scenes”.
Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Ukraine could not and did not want to negotiate with Russia. He stressed that Russia would achieve its goals by continuing special military operations.
After the launch of the special operation, the parties held several rounds of face-to-face discussions in contact groups. Representatives of Moscow and Kiev met in Belarus, and the last meeting of the delegations took place on March 29 in Istanbul.
