Wendy Williams reportedly checked into a wellness facility after her health and substance abuse issues worsened.
Here’s everything you need to know.
Wendy Williams is back in rehab
Wendy Williams is reportedly back in rehab following her fallout with production company Debmar-Mercury.
However, an insider recently reported, ‘It’s taken a turn for the worse,’ referring to the 58-year-old TV host’s alleged addiction issues.
They continued, ‘She went from wine to vodka straight up.’
However, Williams publicist Shawn Zanotti confirmed the news on Wednesday during an interview with E! News.
She revealed in a statement that Williams entered ‘a wellness facility seeking help to manage her general health issues.’
In addition, Zanotti added, ‘She is taking some time to focus on her health and wellness as she prepares for a big comeback to the next level in her career with ‘The Wendy Experience Podcast’.
She mentioned, ‘You can’t stop drinking and you have to stop drinking. It only makes her health worse.’
Additionally, the television personality’s publicist further noted, “Ms. Williams is being treated by a team of some of the best doctors in the world.’
Zanotti concluded by asking fans for ‘prayers and good wishes during this time.’
What happened between Wendy Williams and Debmar-Mercury?
Wendy Williams’ alleged move comes after Debmar-Mercury allegedly ‘refused’ to get her the help she needed to overcome her addiction issues.
If you didn’t know, Debmar-Mercury is the production company that produced Williams’ iconic talk show ‘The Wendy Williams Show.’
Next, a source reported, ‘They turned her back.’
They also claimed that Debmar-Mercury, ‘had too much control over someone so vulnerable.’
In addition, Williams’ ex-husband Kevin Hunter had made similar statements during an interview last July.
He said, ‘Debmar was not going to support Wendy’s recovery efforts with the family.’
Furthermore, he went on to add, ‘They weren’t going to sign anything that would help her in her recovery efforts.’
Meanwhile, Hunter also recalled the time Williams’ family met with the production company to discuss her struggle with alcohol. However, instead of helping her, Debmar-Mercury allegedly gave her an ultimatum.
He revealed, ‘They sat in a meeting with all her family, including her now deceased mother, and they were not going to sign off on the recovery efforts that would have helped Wendy get stronger and live and be sober.’
Hunter continued, ‘They basically said, “If you don’t stop drinking, you’re going to miss the show.”
